About the AMA Journal of Ethics
Medical Student and Resident Physician Theme Issue Editors
The AMA Journal of Ethics is the American Medical Association's online, open-access, advertisement-free MEDLINE-indexed ethics publication, which serves as an educational resource and promotes the ethical and professional development of physicians. Primary audiences are medical students, physicians and physicians-in-training, medical educators, and bioethicists. (If you are not yet an AMA medical student or resident physician member and would like to join, you can do so online at http://www.ama-assn.org/go/join.
We invite medical students and resident physicians who are AMA members to apply to serve as theme issue editors; the call for applications will be announced on this website. Once selected, theme issue editors, meet in Chicago with the AMA Journal of Ethics editorial staff. Each theme issue editor typically receives a $2,000 stipend for executing the following responsibilities: (1) selecting an interesting, important, and complex ethical theme for one issue, (2) generating case narratives that provide opportunities for examining that theme in clinical, social, cultural, historical, and educational contexts, and (3) identifying, securing, and corresponding with authors who will contribute to the theme issue.
