Charles S. Bryan, MD is the Heyward Gibbes Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia. He formerly served as chair of the Department of Medicine and director of the Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities at the University of South Carolina. His publications are mainly in the areas of infectious diseases, medical history, and medical biography, with particular interest in Sir William Osler.
