Guest experts Robert Field, PhD, JD, MPH and Yashaswini Singh, PhD, MPA address whether and how well current law can respond to risks private equity ownership pose to communities and how to protect public insurance programs.
Robert I. Field, PhD, JD, MPH is professor of law at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law and professor of health management and policy at the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His research focuses on health system structure, health reform, data privacy, and bioethics.
Yashaswini Singh, PhD, MPA is a health care economist and assistant professor at Brown University School of Public Health in Providence, Rhode Island. Her areas of interest and expertise include consolidation, vertical integration, and private equity (PE) in health care markets. Her current research examines how PE acquisitions of physicians’ practices change practice patterns and influence health care spending, access, quality, and clinician workforces.
