Harriet Washington, MA is an ethicist and author of Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Experimentation from Colonial Times to the Present, which won the 2007 National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction, and A Terrible Thing to Waste: Environmental Racism and Its Assault on the American Mind.
