Washington, MA is a lecturer in bioethics at Columbia University in New York City and the author of Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans From Colonial Times to the Present (Anchor Books, 2008) and Carte Blanche: The Erosion of Medical Consent (Columbia Global Reports, 2021).
