Professional Responsibility in Preventing Violence and Abuse
Partner, family, and gang violence represent significant threats to health and well-being in the United States. Largely preventable with appropriate intervention, abuse and violence in their many forms often go undiagnosed and underreported. This month's contributors investigate why this is so—an investigation that discloses abuse in the medical education system itself—and explores means by which physicians can fulfill their professional responsibility to help interrupt destructive cycles of violence.
